Home-schooling Enrichment Program
Description of the sessions
All home-schooling enrichment sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These enrichment programs will incorporate subjects such as math, social studies, biology, art, music and literature. Life skills, including problem solving, cooperative learning, leadership and critical thinking will be targeted in each of these programs.
Marine Studies (September & October) cost: $290
Explore the marine world from the microscopic organisms to mammals of the seas. Compare Maine’s ocean ecosystem with tropical ones. Study the intertidal zone along our coastline. Learn how marine organisms survive the extremes of intertidal life. Find out how people make a living from the ocean in the past and in the present.
Two field trips will be planned during this session. There may be a fee for one of the trips, which families are responsible for paying.
Intercultural Understanding (November & December) cost: $238
Discover the similarities and differences of many cultures that share our planet. We will study the values and traditions that are important in people’s lives. We will explore these cultures through music, art, language, foods and clothing.
Youth Entrepreneurship (January & February) cost: $290
Learn the concepts of economics and how to be an entrepreneur through the YESS/Mini-society curriculum. Children design and develop their own society, creating a name, flag and currency. The children identify opportunities and establish their own businesses to provide goods and services to their fellow citizens.

Agriculture (March & April) cost: $220
Learn how agriculture relates to human health and environmental quality here in the United States and throughout the world. Students will learn how agriculture plays an essential role in their daily lives. Students study embryology, hatching out chicks, as part of this session.

Wildlife Ecology (May & June) cost: $290
Discover the richness of wildlife right in your own backyard. From bees to frogs to moose, students will learn about the animals that live in the mid-coast area. Students will learn how to enhance their own backyard to attract wildlife.
